Mechanics
Escort Carriers (CVE) are CVL with a base ASW stat. They are:
- Able to be placed in the main fleet of a Transport Combined Fleet,
- Required for some Expeditions' requirements,
- Able to perform Opening ASW, as other CVL cannot reach enough ASW to trigger them.
- CVL special OASW:

The following are considered CVE:
- Taiyou-class
- Casablanca-class
- Independence-class
- Houshou Kai Ni/Sen
- Ryuuhou Kai Ni/E
- Zuihou Kai Ni B
Kaga Kai Ni Go is a CV, but shares most of the CVE mechanics.
Despite having their card calling them "Escort Carrier", and being historically ones, Shimane Maru and Yamashio Maru are AO and not CVE.
