* Her name means "Mountain Cloud".
* She was launched on the 24th of July 1937.
* Sunk as part of the Nishimura Fleet at Surigao Strait during the Battle of Leyte Gulf, on the 25th of October 1944.
* Wreck located in Surigao Strait on the 27th of November 2017 by RV ''Petrel''. She lies a mile away from sister ''Michishio'' at a depth of 117 m (384 ft) and is in two separate pieces.
