* Considered a very lucky ship and survived multiple catastrophic damage incidents:
** she was struck by lightning in 1943
** struck by a torpedo from USS Scamp in 1943
** was hit by two torpedoes from USS Sturgeon which resulted in 130 men dead and the detonation of her forward magazine totally destroying her bow from the her no.2 turret onwards. Additionally, she was also struck by lightning on the bridge in 1944. She would be towed by Hatsuzuki back to Sukumo Bay
** Struck by another torpedo in 1944 in Taiwan by USS Besugo
** Was attacked in an ambush while escorting Haruna in 1944. She survived the attacks from USS Redfish, USS Seasdevil, and USS Plaice
** Fought and survived in the lead up and in the final engagements of Operation Ten Go
** During Operation Ten Go, possibly due to the larger size of the Akizuki-class she was misidentified as a Light Crusier. Which could explain why the concentration of air attacks against her. Her bridge and forceastle was struck by a Helldiver from USS Essex. She lost her No. 1 and No.2 Turrets with No.2 detonating. She was on fire with no steering and even almost collided with Yamato.
** When she broke off the battle and was reversing back, an Avenger from USS Intrepid attacked her and missed. She would continue to sail in reverse with a burned nautical chart and broken gyrocompass. She would later be assisted and guided from behind by Hatsushimo until she made it back to Japan.

* She is currently still around albeit entombed under concrete. Suzutsuki, Fuyutsuki, and Yanagi are currently protecting the Kitakyushu as breakwaters.
