E4 is a single and combined fleet, three-phase map consisting of one transport and two boss phases.

• 3 LBAS are available on this map:
  • Only 2 can be set on Sortie, the other being limited to Defense,

• This map uses 2 locks:

Trivia

• The area of operation is from the coast of Vietnam, near Cam Ranh Bay, and heading into the Spratly Islands and the Philippines.
• Starting point 1 is at Cam Ranh Bay. Cam Ranh Bay was a strategic location since the 19th Century all the way through the Vietnam War in the 20th Century. This was the Russian staging area for the Battle of Tsushima and the Japanese staging ground for the invasion of British Malaya and Borneo. The Japanese base was destroyed in January 1945 during Operation Gratitude. Cam Rahn Bay was later developed by the US as a military installation. It was turned over to the South Vietnamese Government, to then fall to North Vietnam, becoming an important Cold War naval base for the Soviets. It was only in 2002 that the lease agreement between Vietnam and Russia ended, and the base was turned over to Vietnam. Currently it is a major base of the Vietnamese Navy.
• As per checking available sources, we are unable to confirm if there was indeed a Japanese airbase or any airfield during the 1930-1940's on the exact location of the land base for this map. The location of the Airbase is near the area of Cam Rahn Bay and is assumed to be the location of the old US air base was, and is currently used by the Vietnam Air Force.
• Node P is Vũng Tàu which is a port city. Although during WW2 there was no major engagement, this area was a major hub for transporting material during the Japanese occupation of French Indochina during the war.
