Sweet Potato

The Sweet potato is a root vegetable native to the tropical regions of South America, being a distant relative of the regular potatoes.
It was introduced in Japan in the early 1600s by the Portuguese, and has been a staple ever since. Nowadays, it is notably popular as a street food in a roasted form, usually by burning it in dead leaves in autumn.
In Kancolle, sweet potatoes are greatly represented, with several ship girls seanoal cards and voicelines, an office furniture set, and IRL collaborations.
Sweet Potato Association
The "Sweet Potato Association" is a Kancolle instance of sweet potato enthusiasts led by Shiratsuyu.
Shiratsuyu is the ship girl the most enthusiastic about sweet potatoes, receiving the most enthusiastic and the most seasonal voice lines about them. Furthermore, she is indirectly mentioned in the furniture set and even has a dedicated voice line, and is the lead figure of the 2025 Oimo Club collaboration.
The "association" is almost exclusively described via the furniture set, with the table as the gathering place, and the altar as the "magic" item, "coming with its own uniform".
- The implicit canon is that some ship girls may be abducted by the magic of Shiratsuyu's uniform, with notably Fujinami's seasonal sweet potato CG showing her having the uniform put on only when damaged, as if it jumped on her. Johnson is also seen wearing the uniform in the collaboration.
