Jets were introduced in the 2016/12/09 update. Jets possess the ability to perform a Jet Assault before the aerial combat phase. The 2026/02/13 update introduced the fisrt jet fighter, unlocking the Jet CVCI.

Jet List

"Jets" refer to "Turbojet propelled planes". Currently the game includes 5 planes with a turbojet:

Icon Name IRL Designation Ingame Category Do perform a "JA"?
Do consume Steel?

as they are the only ones having "jet behaviors".

Rocket aircraft are ignored as they have nothing to do with jets either, see here.

Mechanics

1. Few "jets" are currently available in the game with each unique icons:

2. Carrier Jets can only be equipped by Shoukaku Kai Ni AShoukaku Kai Ni A, Zuikaku Kai Ni AZuikaku Kai Ni A, Kaga Kai Ni GoKaga Kai Ni Go, Hiryuu Kai SanHiryuu Kai San, and Victorious KaiVictorious Kai.

3. Using jets will consume steelSteel in addition to bauxiteBauxite.

4. Having a jet equipped will allow a pre-emptive aerial attack known as Jet Assault (JA) in addition to normal aerial attacks.

  • Damage during the carrier jet assault and carrier shelling is calculated the same way as dive bombers, but damage during all other phases is reduced.
Phase LBAS JA Carrier JA LBAS Assault Airstrike Carrier Shelling
Damage Mod x1.0 x1.0 x0.7 x0.7 x1.0

5. Jets bombers have a high Anti-Air Resistance that reduces losses to anti-air fire.

6. Jets will go through three different shoot-down phases per normal battle.

  • Anti-air during the Jet Assault.
  • Shoot down during Air Control.
  • Anti-air during the normal airstrike.

The jet assault phase cannot trigger AACI.

7. Unlike most planes, jets have Range Range.

8. Jet fighter-bombers do not count as Dive Bombers nor Fighters, and so cannot activate regular CVCI.

  • Using a jet fighter with regular bombers or jet bombers can trigger a Jet CVCI.

Fighter Jet Jet Fighters paired with JetFighterBomber2.png/JetFighterBomber1.png Jet Bombers or regular bombers (Torpedo Bomber/Dive Bomber) can trigger powerful CVCI.

  • Those jet CVCI are not mutually exclusive with regular CVCI, and should be paired whenever possible.

Steel Cost

The steel consumption of jets is:

Steel consumption formula
[math]\displaystyle{ \text{Jet Phase Cost} = \sum^{\text{All Jets} } \lceil \text{Count}_\text{Plane} \times \text{Steel Cost} \rceil }[/math]
With
Notes
  • Take note that the costs are rounded up.
  • Jets only cost steel in nodes where they are used for jet assaults and airstrikes.
    • Night battles will not cost steel.
  • Steel is consumed upon returning to base.
    • This means jets can still be used even when having not enough steel for the sortie.
  • Because LBAS squadrons are refilled between waves, jets will always cost the full 18 planes per wave.

Use Notes

For jet bombers:

  1. Since they use the dive bomber multiplier and have a weaker airstrike per plane, making their use against larger targets is limited if used alone.
  2. They are "fighter-bombers" with a very hight AA resist. This makes them useful when needing to maximize fighter power while maintaining some striking power.
    • They are also the fighter-bombers with the highest AA Anti-Air and Dive Bombing Dive Bomber Attack in-game, and among the only planes to provide Range Range.
    • This usefulness is relative, since they cannot be used in regular CVCI.
    • When possible, using setups capable of triggering 2 jet CVCI and 1+ regular CVCI is advised.
  3. The steel cost can add up very quickly, especially when being equipped on the largest slots of the CV.
    • Note that equipping them in smaller slots limits their ability to contribute to air control and damage.
