Pets
In the game, in addition to the usual Kanmusu, Abyssal, and Fairies, some ships may also have some "pets".
- Those pets range from simple animals, to pieces of equipment, such as the famous Rensouhou.
- Both Kanmusus and Abyssals may have such pets, and are cosmetic only, serving as some sort of mascots.
- For ships drawn by Jiji, many have a feature (such as fire directors) representing his own "face/profile picture", a small box with two eyes, and may also be considered pets too.
- Some carriers also handle their planes as pets, notably the Taiyou-class handling them as if they were falcons.
Kanmusu
Robots
Rensouhou, Choujuusenchihou, and some other gears are "Danbo-like robots", are directly based on ship equipment, and replace the gears the girls would usually carry otherwise.
- They are very expressive, notably on Kancolle Arcade.
Rensouhou
Rensouhou (連装砲) are literally 12.7 cm twin gun mounts (5"):
- Shimakaze calls hers "Rensouhou-chan" (連装砲ちゃん, more familiar),
- Amatsukaze calls hers "Rensouhou-kun" (連装砲くん, more formal),
- Helena's does not seams to have a nickname for it.
- Ushio also has an expressive 12.7 cm gun, but not a rensouhou propper.

- All abyssals have many additional organic monster-like appendages, but only a few also have distinct pets/mascots/creatures also following them.
- As most of them are bosses, those creatures can represent smaller crafts, or even other abyssals entirely.

- In addition, many advanced abyssal carriers also have their planes shown on their banner only.
- The Gotland Minigame also features them as standard enemies.

Bokukawauso
Bokukawauso or Boku Kawauso (ボクカワウソ, "I'm an otter") is an otter mascot, based on a sketch made by seiyuu Uchida Shuu for the 3rd "Zuiun Festival".
- It now serves as some informal Kancolle mascot, being seen in several IRL events.
- It is owned by the Sanrio company (Hello Kitty's owners).
Another mascot, "Kirin Kai Ni" (a giraffe) was also made by Miyakawa Wakana. It can notably be found on Sado's Rainy Season CG.
