Ships that at some point in history changed nationality, either by being built in a different country than the navy they served in, or by being transferred to another nation as a gift or war prize notably.
- Souya, commissioned as "Volochaevets" by the Soviets, was never delivered to the USSR.
- Gangut was built in the Russian Empire, so she is not technically "Soviet-born".
- Littorio was renamed Italia after switching from Fascist Italia to post-war Italia.
- Most French ships switched banner through history, notably between Vichy France and the Free French Naval Forces.
