*On the 26th of January 1943, Wahoo and her crew were involved in a controversial incident where the survivors of the Japanese transport ship ''Buyo Maru'' were attacked in the water. Though there are conflicting accounts on who had engaged first, several survivors were gunned down in the water and on lifeboats. It was later revealed that many of the survivors were British Indian POWs. In total, 195 Indians and 87 Japanese died in the sinking of ''Buyo Maru'' and the subsequent aftermath. The shift in her facial expression and addition of several references to the incident are reflected accordingly.
