- Though the origin of her name is the Kinu River, 鬼怒 literally means "angry goblin", and this accounts for her unique pose and character.
- She was launched on the 29th of May 1922.
- Sunk on the 26th of October 1944 bombed by USN aircraft SW of Masbate, Sibuyan Sea 11°45′N 123°11′E.
