• She is named after comender Cappellini.
• She was launched on the 14th of May 1939.
• Aquired by Germany as UIT-24 on the 10th of September 1943.
• Aquired by Japan as I-503 on the 10th of May 1945.
• Captured by the U.S. Navy in August 1945 and scuttled on the 16th of April 1946.
