Is a "Fleet Oiler" (AO), despite being designated in the game as a "Special Escort Carrier" (CVE / 特護空 / 特設護衛空母), and being historically one.

This is reflected in her equipability exceptions and ASW capability.

Gameplay Notes

Fleet Oilers (AO) can notably refuel ships mid-sortie using Underway Replenishment.

They can also carry various support equipment, which can be useful for Resource Farming.

Special Mechanics

Kai

When equipping at least 1 Dive Bomber , her attack formula for day shelling follows the Carrier Shelling formula.
- This also makes her unable to attack submarines at night.

Similarly to CVN, when equipping at least 1 Night Dive Bomber , her night attacks become Carrier Night Air Attacks.
- She cannot trigger the attack when Chuuha.

General Information

She was launched on the 17th of December 1944.
Sunk at Shido Bay by British aircraft on the 24th of July 1945.

Update History

She was added on the 23rd of March 2025 as Spring 2025 Event E-5 drop.
Her "Card Ship Type" was updated from "陸護空" to "特護空" on the 24th of March 2025.

Misc

The Shimane Maru-class and Yamashio Maru-class classes where both developed by the IJN and IJA respectively from type 1TL and 2TL tankers, being similar in spirit to the "Merchant aircraft carrier (MAC)" concept.
Although officially "lost" in combat her hulk survived till after the war and was scrapped in the post-war period.
She is put with the IJA ships in the ship list despite being from the IJN.
