Library Play	I was the first of the Kirov-class cruisers, built by the navy of a country in the north with Italian technical assistance. I was built as a new-generation Soviet cruiser and deployed with the Baltic Fleet. I supported the army during the Siege of Leningrad and contributed to the city's defense. My service record is one full of shore bombardments.

General Information

Named after the Sergei Kirov.
She was launched on the 30th of November 1936.
Scrap on the 22th of February 1974.

She was added on the 7th of March 2025 as Spring 2025 Event E3 reward.

Misc

Survived World War II.
The most probable reason that she was used in the "What if" Hokkaido Defense Operation in the KanColle Spring 2025 Event, is that her sisters Kalinin and Kaganovich, who were assigned to the Pacific Fleet, had several issues at the time. Her sisters were not combat ready when the Soviets entered the Pacific Theatre in August of 1945. Both were transferred to the Russian Pacific Fleet early on, but they were still not fully completed. Kaganovich for example was fully completed in 1947 and was inactive through 1945. Kalinin was under reconstruction in 1945, which is why she is not even on the roster of ships for inclusion in the invasion of Manchuria (by extension she won’t be considered for the hypothetical Hokkaido Invasion). With all that, Kirov among the others was available as a cruiser gunfire support option if the plans did push through.
Kriov's character design is by Jiji, usually the "Italian ship artist". It is a reference to the historical basis for her design. The Kirov-class were made with the support and consultation from the famous Italian group "Gio. Ansaldo & C." which gave them technical information from the Montecuccoli-class and Duca d'Aosta-class. This then became the basis for Kirov's design, having striking similarities between with the Regia Marina cruiser designs both in the main hull structure and in the internal machinery. Ansaldo is famous for their engineering work and designing many Italian military weaponry throughout the decades including the Littorio-class, Aquila, Montecuccoli-class, etc.
